According to Chinese customs, when a baby turns 1 month old, there will be a celebration to celebrate his/her first month of life, hence full moon. Traditionally, hard boiled eggs (dyed red to symbolise luck and blessings) and food such as cakes, angku kueh are given to friends and relatives. For baby Danniel, my nephew, I made a whole cake and cupcakes whilst my mum and sis dyed the hardboiled eggs.
